Living in Arizona over the past sixteen years I couldn’t help but dive into old western history and learned quite a bit when I visited Tombstone several years back. To this date one of my favorite movies of all time is Tombstone where Kurt Russell does a fantastic job portraying Wyatt Earp and Val Kilmer gives what is arguably his best performance as Doc Holliday.
There was something raw about being able to settle disputes by duel’s and fortune was carved by your own hands in the barely tamed lands of the deserts and mountains.
The HBO Series Deadwood has a real and gritty feel unblemished by traditional television. Deadwood is engaging, violent and in many ways captures the way you would think the old west was lived. My favorite actor in Deadwood by far was Ian McShane as Al Swearengen the owner of the Gem Saloon. His voice and personality seems like it was tempered by the harsh times.
Now you can get all three seasons of Deadwood for a fantastic deal, this is your chance to grab the whole series and just have a marathon on a weekend or spread out over a few weeks and enjoy the series again or for the first time if you haven’t seen it before.
