Latest Hyperfixation is Supernatural VR Fitness

My whole intended purpose when getting a Meta Quest 3 was always more about trying to incorporate VR fitness into my daily routine. I started out with Beat Saber and Synth Riders as my primary form of working out, but after half a year of running both programs often in the same night I started realizing the new track drops weren’t frequent enough and though I loved churning through the same tunes every day, the patterns became too routine as I moved through medium, hard and then expert in some of the tracks.

Then my fitness routine ramped up to 1000 when I was introduced to Supernatural VR ironically through a Facebook recommend. This is a subscription based workout app that is about $9.99 per month and I decided to do the free trial first, and within 2 days purchased the annual plan.

What makes Supernatural VR a great value is that the amount of new content and content variety vastly blow away Beat Saber and other VR Fitness games. You get more new content for that $9.99 per month than you do buying DLC packs on Synth Riders or Beat Saber. You also get a variety of workouts from boxing to flow, to meditations. They incorporate movements, knee strikes and are adding new forms into songs on a regular basis. The newest mode superspeed has me totally hooked and has dramatically increased the intensity of my workouts maximizing my calorie burn in less time spent.

You can pair the Meta Quest 3 app with the Supernatural app on your phone and if you have a smart watch you can track your heart rate as well, so that way you can get updates after each song on your min/max heart rate and track your flow. I do recommend you stay on top of your heart rate as you want to keep it within target zones and also take pauses if you get it too high.

So while the game supports up to 4 profiles on a single Meta Quest headset if you want to play with someone you know each person will have to have their own subscriptions, like if you and your partner want to both play at the same time together, need 2 headsets and 2 subscriptions but if you take turns on the same headset you don’t need separate subscriptions.

I continue to push and see how far I can go with it with my latest run being about 533 minutes over 7 days and scoring 22325 points. But don’t let the points fool you, the most intense workouts are boxing and you get lower points for boxing than for flow because there are less targets in the boxing workouts but they are far more intense and get your heart rate up. So what I like to do is start my workout with a boxing which immediately ramps my heart rate, and then I work into a few flow workouts after, and then finish with another boxing workout to keep a steady higher heart rate through the whole workout session.

I set my goal for 5 days a week, but have done 7 days a week for 10 straight weeks without breaking my streak so far.

I work out sometimes outside but I notice that in the sunlight my Meta Quest 3 can sometimes lose track of my virtual bats in the middle of a workout causing me to miss targets, it doesn’t seem to happen indoors with a lamp light however. Not sure if this is a Meta Quest 3 tracking issue or with the app itself when using it outside and it is sunny.

When I am outside I always set it to AR Mode where I can see my environment around me all the time, instead of VR mode, even indoors I workout in AR mode cause I was bumping into the couch so much as I don’t have a huge VR workout space.

Without any diet modifications at all, i lost about 11lb between January 2025 and the end of March 2025, and I know I could have dropped quite a bit more if I cut back on my calorie intake and modified my diet more than I do but hey I love food what can I say. Regardless of the slower weight loss, I have however noticed substantial stamina increase and faster reflexes. I can now do Beat Saber on Expert mode and Hard feels too slow for me as a result of working my way up in Supernatural VR. In addition my stamina is improved I can do the longer 40+ minute tracks non-stop with no breaks in between, and am able to do 80-95 minute sessions straight with only a quick drink between workouts to replenish my fluids. When I first started I would be winded in 15 minutes and couldn’t even go fast enough to get gold or platinum in the high workouts, now I am consistently Double Platinum or better in all Pro workouts, sometimes getting a Triple or a Diamond which you need like a 100/98 (accuracy/power) or 99/99 or 100/100 to get a diamond. Boxing though I still have a hard time getting my speed over 90 with hard mode.

I even added wrist weights periodically to up the impact even more but I should have started with 1/2lb or 1lb weights because the 2lb ones left my shoulders very sore when using them for 30 minutes

For when I workout I tend to listen to music very loud, it keeps me focused and amplifies my intensity but sometimes the speaker on the Meta Quest 3 is too loud for the family, so I found that the PRISMXR Vega T1 earbuds are fantastic because they use a USB C dongle they have 0 latency unlike Bluetooth earbuds which you can’t really use with Supernatural VR because the delay in the Bluetooth causes your target strikes to be out of sync with the sound of the targets being hit.

I also recommend the BOBOVR S3 Pro Battery Headset Strap which also has a more comfortable headband and a little fan that helps cool your head while working out, it is somewhat effective too.
