Blue tailed skinks, huh? We have those out here too, but I never knew what they were called. My cats enjoy catching them. I doubt if the skinks enjoy it, though...

I heard there are red tailed skinks, I was just glad up north I said it looks like a blue tailed skink? I knew enough about reptiles to know skinks are very similar to snakes (they look like snakes with legs) and I was right.

Makes you wonder how they ever thought of that name? And what is the non-blue tailed critter?

Thank you, it is the almost supernatural blue color that seems out of place on the lizard which made it so fascinating.

Okay, thought I'm not into creepy crawlers or slimy lizards, I have to say that bluetail is pretty cool. I have never see one before. Great shots Justin.

Yeah, they were fun to find. They look exactly like little snakes with legs, they also flick their tongues in and out like snakes which most lizards don't do.

A blue tail, how cool is that. I never knew those existed. We have many lizards in Malta during summer, can't walk outside for 5 minutes without having seen at least one. But I've never seen one with a blue tail.

I'm surprised you caught one - and that it would even pose for a picture on your hand - they move soooo fast.
