I agree with Karen and Gerard. The large majority of people harmed by guns are done so by somebody they know.
It never ceases to amaze and disgust me that the government thinks it's okay to prosecute a 9 year old kid in this way.

I am so glad we don't have any real gun in our house! About once a week someone gets shot by "accident" or over some insignificant argument. The latest one I saw was a 4 yr-old shooting his brother because he stepped on his foot. This 4-yr-old announced he was going to get a gun and shoot him, then proceeded to load the gun that he knew was in the house and shoot his brother! The family just thought he was going to get a toy gun from his room.

To me, keeping a gun in the home for "protection" is a crock. I've only heard of 1 incident where it was actually used in that situation and many, many others that involve shooting people they knew in a fit of rage or accidentally.

I totally agree! Guns should never be anywhere within reach of children and minors. It should be hidden away in a safe place, with the safety pin on.. This weapon is evil and dangerous..
