I think Twitter can be of great value to an online business.
I personally use Twitter as a way of updating my followers as to my achievements or goals, useful snippets of information, interesting web links or simple asking a question or opinion of my followers.

I am using it purely for blog networking, none of my friends use it. I'm enjoying it and finding it helpful already. What helped for me was a website called TwitterMoms, which obviously wouldn't be for you. There is a search on Twitter that you can put in key words to search for people with similar interests as you. You'll see many of them that read: "sent by TwitterFeed" etc. Then you check out those apps to see if they work for you. I liked Twitteroo for a year or so but it just got clumsy with two apps for Twitter. Now I just post direct or via "socialmatic.com" If anybody wants to follow me, I'm linked up top.
